Charles Basil Sr., 64, of Langleyville, passed away on June 17, 2013 at 4:28 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL. He was born on March 3, 1949 in Taylorville, IL. the son of Chester and Zelma (Peacher) Basil. He married Joan Kidd in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville on January 17,1970.. He worked for Fiat Allis and later for the Mt. Auburn Township. He was affiliated with the Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville. Charlie was a loving, caring, protective husband, dad and grandpa. Charlie liked fishing and camping with his wife and son. He liked to mow and decorate his yard. Charlie loved to spent time with his grandchildren and especially teasing them. He loved his children, grandchildren even more. There wasn’t a weekend go by that he didn’t have a grandchild or grandchildren stay over.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; son: Charles Basil Jr. of Langleyville, IL; daughters: Jackie (companion: Elbert “Lee” Robinson) Young and Donna (Howard “Beau”) Alberts both of Taylorville, IL.; grandchildren: James Luetzow, Brittany Alberts, Justin Luetzow, Cameron Alberts, Laura (companion: Dusten Martin) Young, Richard Young IV, Dustin Young and Michael Robinson; brothers: Darrell (Nancy) Basil of AR, Ronald (Mary Ann) Basil of Carlyle, IL and Chester “Bill” (Charlene) Basil of Kincaid, IL; sister: Shirley (Donald) Dunkirk of Taylorville, IL. He was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Robert Basil.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Philip Neumann officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Mt. Auburn, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Sutton Memorial Home.
