Mary Rita Burkhart, of Taylorville, IL died on Tuesday February 21, 2012 at 3:00a.m. at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL. She was born July 18, 1918 in Jamestown, ND.  She married Gale L. Burkhart in Michigan.  He preceded her in death on June 6, 1970.  She was a retired housekeeper from Meadow Manor Nursing Home, Taylorville, IL.  She was a seamstress, she loved to travel and would road trip at the drop of a hat.  She loved country music, she hated yellow cars and she had a keen sense of humor.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, Catholic Daughters of America, Altar and Rosary Society.  She was also member of the Red Hats Society.

She is survived by Sons: Gale (Mary Sue) Burkhart of Kincaid, IL; and Thomas A. (Rena) Burkhart of Taylorville, IL. Daughters; Anna M. (Dennis) Gregory of Macon, IL and Rosemary (Skeet) Doubles of Stonington, IL. Grandchildren: Tiffany Burkhart, Joshua Burkhart, Dennis P. Gregory, William Gregory, Brian Gregory, Joel E. Gregory, Stephen L. Gregory, Charlie Burkhart, Matthew Burkhart, Tyler Burkhart, Zachariah D. Younker, Kendra M. Younker and Cassidy J. Younker; Great-Grandchildren: 16; and one Great-Great Grandchild.  She was preceded in death by husband: Gale and Son: James Lee

Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm Saturday, February25, 2012 at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL.

Funeral Services will be from 12:00 (noon) Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with Father Alan Hunter officiating.  Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Assumption, IL
