Virginia Mae Lowe, 89, of Taylorville, passed away March 17, 2012 at 12:10 pm at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Taylorville. She was born July 28, 1922 in Taylorville, the daughter of Lyman "Shorty" and Irma (Mullen-Baker) Lowe. She married Herbert Lowe in 1946 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in February, 1983. She worked for Sears and was a homemaker, was affiliated with the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, volunteered with the St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary for several years, member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary which she served as president 3 different years and was honored to be a Gold Star Mother.
She is survived by sons; William H. Lowe and Marshall D. (Donna) Lowe both of Taylorville; daughter; Lorette Alllen (companion Luke Fiore) of Glen Ellyn; brother; Walter Baker of Palatine; sister-in-law, Nancy Baker of Taylorville; 7 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; parents, husband, son Ronald Bruce Lowe; brothers, Charles Baker, Raymond, James Baker and Lester Mullens; sisters, Dorothy Klaub and Kathryn Ebert.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 5:00 pm in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2012 from 3-5pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
