Charles M. Barnes, 87, of Owaneco, passed away August 1, 2011 at 11:25 AM at his residence.  He was born March 7, 1924 in Patoka, IL., the son of Charles Edward and Mary Goodin Barnes.  He married Sadie Smith in July, 1973 in Taylorville, IL.  He retired from Continental Grain Co, in Taylorville. 

He is survived by sons:  Charles Barnes of Owaneco, Randy Barnes of Owaneco, Steve Barnes of Springfield; step-children Doreen (Cliff) Clouser of Martinsville, Elizabeth (Curt) Ginger, Vivian (Doug) Durbin all of Owaneco, Ernest Foote; brother Glen Barnes of Trivola; sisters, Lexi and Rose of Illinois; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 daughters, Pam & Joyce, step sons Bill Lahr & Sam Foote.

Memorial service will be held Friday, August 5, 2011 at 6 PM at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Ellis Sills officiating.  Inurnment will be held at a later date.  Visitation will be held Friday, August 5, 2011 from 5-6 PM at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
