Nadine R. Gilbert Davis of Taylorville

Nadine R. Gilbert Davis, 74, of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at her residence. She was born on June 22, 1937 in Stonington the daughter of Cecil and Phyllis Sutton Gilbert. She married Frank L. "Roy" Davis on September 29, 1972 and he preceded her in death in 2002. She was a long time resident of Edingburg and a member of the Edinburg Christian Church. She loved children and one of her favorite sayings were "What's one more" and "Come on in", she started a preschool in the 1960's for a short time and then was a owner/operator of a day care for many years. She taught Sunday School for handicap children, was a Cub Scout Den mother and assisted with the summer reading program. She was also a beautiful seamstress and worked as the church secretary. She loved to garden both vegetables and flowers. She had a heart for giving. For a while she gave time as a volunteer to the nursing home and assisted with the Persimmon Taste Party with Mary Anne Durbin. She was very involved in her community as a Village Trustee and worked on the Edinburg Economic Development Committee. She was very involved with the Christian county Quilt guild and loved making quilts to give away. The last couple of years she also became involved with the Stockings for Soldiers and encouraged the Quilt Guild to add them to their charity. She loved to travel and take pictures of her family and God's creation.

She is survived by three children, Becky Carpenter of Olalla, WA, Bobbi Talkington of Edinburg and David (Denise) Jacobs of Springfield; one brother, Eugene (Connie) Gilber of Moweaqua; one sister, Gerneda Armstrong of Shelbyville; one sister-in-law, Doris Younker of Taylorville; three grandchildren, Dawn and Shawn Carpenter of Olalla, WA and Chris Talkington of Edingburg; and one great grandchild, Jake Thompson of Olalla, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Virginia McBride.

Visitation will be form 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Edinburg with Reverends, Dan Armstrong, Josh Bennett and Rob Petersen officiating. Burial will follow in Edinburg Cemetery.
