Richard Lee Brewer Sr., 69, of Taylorville, passed away August 13, 2011 at 9:40am at his residence in Taylorville.  He was born June 9, 1942 in Pawnee, the son of Samuel Bracken and Gertrude Stacy Glenn Brewer.  He married Linda Kay Sims in November, 1971 in Taylorville.  He worked for the city of Taylorville for 33 years.  He was a member of Southern Baptist Church of Taylorville. 

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son Richard Lee (Barbara) Brewer Jr. of Tamaroa, IL.; daughter Tammy Lynn (Terry) Roberts of Sesser, IL.;  brothers, Cecil (Bonita) Carlene Matthews of Pawnee, Denny (Cindy) Brewer of Bloomington; sister Sharon Sue (Hank) Bertels of Rochester; mother-in-law, Agnes Sue Sims of Taylorville, IL., 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, 2 brother-in-laws, and step father Vern Harris. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19, 2011 at 1:00pm in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville with Rev. Maurice Walker officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 5-8pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
