Stanley C. Cook of Sullivan

Stanley C. Cook, 71, of Sullivan, passed away on June 26, 2013 at 10:17 p.m. at the Sullivan Health Care Center, Sullivan, IL. He was born December 4, 1941 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Chester and Elva (Brookens) Cook. He married Brenda Brown in 1978 in Blue Mound, IL. He retired from the Firestone Tire Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 409 in Findlay, IL. He liked to travel with his wife. They enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a fan of NASCAR racing; his favorite driver was Tony Stewart. He will be sadly missed by his best girl Mistie.

 

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; sons: Kevin Cook of Blue Mound, IL and Jeff Cook of Decatur, IL; Grandchild: Courtney Bennett of Decatur, IL; brothers: Bob Cook of Cheyenne, WY and Larry Cook of Belleville, IL; sisters: Rosetta (Jack) Neal of Phoenix, AZ, Marcia Shelite of Pana, IL and Judy (Delmar) Zeitler of Taylorville, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leroy Cook; sisters: Minnie Griffin, Elizabeth Murray and Janice Beck.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Randy Myers officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. A private family burial following funeral services will be held in the Grove City Cemetery with military honors in Grove City, IL.
