Leonard W. Nail, 80, of Mt. Auburn, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 4:35 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born July 16, 1932 in O’Fallon, IL. The Son of Theodore and Ruby (Cavinder) Nail. He married Fay Anderson on July 3, 1972 in Grove City, IL and she later preceded him in death on June 5, 2006. He was a welder at Bowman’s welding and Caterpillar. He later became a bus driver for Mt. Auburn School District for several years and worked at DeKalb. After retiring he helped Fay run their daycare center up until her death. In his younger years, Leonard loved to hunt and fish. He was a volunteer firefighter for Mt. Auburn for 25years. He loved his kids and they loved him in return. The family requests casual attire to be worn to services.
He is survived by his Sons: Tom (Myra) Nail of Taylorville, IL Wayne (Cheri) Nail of Litchfield; Daughters: Michelle (Fiance Mike Hencken) of Mantooth of St. Louis, MO. Susan (Sam) Casey of Hillsboro, IL; Step-Sons: Bruce (Caroline) Anderson of Taylorville, IL; Don (Geneva) Anderson of Mt. Auburn, IL; Michael Nemesh of Lake Butler, FL.; Step-Daughters: Anna Pearson of Springfield, IL; Carolyn (Chuck) Carter of Blue Mound, IL; Debbie (Dennis) Sanders of Taylorville, IL; Nineteen Grandchildren; Seventeen Great-Grandchildren; Brother: Floyd (Edna) Nail of Litchfield, IL; Sister: Louise Laird of Litchfield, IL; Brother-in-Law: Tom (Leona) True of Mt. Auburn, IL; Sister-in-Laws: Regina Nail, Irma Nail both of Litchfield, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Brothers Lee and Oran Nail, Brother-in-Law: Levi Laird, Niece Phyllis Ballinger, Step-Sons Dave Anderson and Robert Nemesh.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:00 am at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Dan Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 5:00-8:00pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
