Barbara Ann Atkinson, 85 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 5:20 AM at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville.

 She was born on July 22, 1928 at Taylorville the daughter of Homer and Hazel (Pearson) Shetlar. She married James E. Atkinson on August 7, 1948 at Taylorville; he preceded her in death on February 2, 2008. Her parents also preceded her in death.

 Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Taylorville, Presbyterian Women’s Association and Women’s Home Extension. She was a 4-H Leader and had also attended Mac Murray College in Jacksonville.

 Survivors: Daughter, Ann (husband, Noel) Brodsky of Champaign, IL; Sons, David (wife, Cindy) Atkinson and Keith (wife, Debbie) Atkinson both of Taylorville, IL and John Atkinson (partner, Dick Mathes) of Mt. Vernon, WA; 9 Grandchildren, Seth, Tristan, Nathan, Matthew and Rebekah Atkinson, Sarah Hunt, Ariana, Serena and Alyssa Brodsky; Brothers, Kenneth Shetlar and Jerry Shetlar both of Fayetteville, AR and Larry Shetlar of Bradley, IL; Sister, Lois Freeman of Alva, FL; Sister in law, Margie Dobson of Springfield, IL; Many Nieces and Nephews.

 Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville with Pastor Jeff Grote officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.
