Ralph T. Smith, 101, of Taylorville, IL,  passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at 3:59 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born October 24, 1912 in Osage, KS. The Son of Virgil and Florence (Anderson) Smith. He married Alta Mae Hill on November 23, 1938 in St. Charles, MO and she later preceded him in death on April 15, 2004. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Taylorville, Ansar Shrine, Morrisonville Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and Christian County Shrine three wheelers. 

He is survived by his Daughters: Jo Ann Brown of Taylorville, IL; Sue (David) Barker of Tulsa, OK; Sharon (Roger) McCabe of Beaumont, TX; Charlotte (Donnie) Heberling of Owaneco, IL; Rose (Steve) Breckenridge of Taylorville, IL; Twelve Grandchildren; Seventeen Great grandchildren; Two Great-Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Elsie Anderson of Osage, KS; Alice Schneider of Plano, TX Brothers: Albert Smith of Overbrook, KS, Virgil Smith Jr. of Overbrook, KS. Hayden Smith of Overbrook, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson: Nathan Breckenridge, Son-in-Law: Carl Brown and several Brothers and Sisters

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
