Margaret “Maggie” Ann Gebhart died at 4:55 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Cindy and Ralph Woehrmann of Taylorville; Brother Cody (Shawna) Gebhart of Marion, IL; Sister Molly Gebhart Williams of Taylorville; Nephews Cohen and Beckett Gebhart, and Seth Williams. Aunts/Uncles- John and Pennie Crinion of Downers Grove, Rick and Jenny Garinger of Champaign, Bernie and Judy Huelsbusch of Champaign, Tom and Leslie Schroeder of Glenview, Bob and Rebecca Steiner of Taylorville; five cousins Monica and Maureen Crinion, Lauren and Kelly Schroeder and PJ Garinger.
Maggie is preceded in death by her father Paul Arthur Gebhart, grandparents Arthur and Ruby Gebhart and Phillip and Patricia Garinger, and cousins Jeanne Ann Huelsbusch and Angeline Crinion. Maggie will be best remembered for her zest for life. She worked hard to overcome her physical limitations while appreciating all who loved and cared for her. She loved her friends at Christian County Mental Health workshop. She was active in kids are kids Special Olympics (wheelchair racing, ramp bowling, and basketball skills) and lived according to the Special Olympics Oath- “Let me win….But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
Maggie loved her years with Mrs. Freese in High School Choir. Her Churches, Stonington United Methodist Church and later, Trinity Lutheran Church, were the source of strength and nurture for her deep-seeded faith in the saving power of Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour before at 10:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist Officiating. A visitation will also be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday before the funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Taylorville.
