Christine M. Wilson, 63 of Taylorville passed away at 5:58 AM on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 24, 1951 in Chicago daughter of Walter and Jean (Patience) Dec. She married Richard T. Wilson on August 16, 1975 and they later re-married on January 4, 2007.
Chris had received her B.S. from Northern Illinois University and her M.S. from the University of Illinois at Springfield. She taught Home Economics and later became a Guidance Counselor in the Mt. Auburn High School from 1980 to 1987 and then at the Carlinville High School from 1987 until her retirement in 2007. She was the Founder of Missions for Taylorville, served as moderator of her church and was President of the Christian Fellowship at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville, where she was a member. She was an avid reader and helped lead two book club groups. She had taught a Yoga class and enjoyed quilting.
In addition to her loving husband Richard of Taylorville, she is survived by her daughters: Laura (Steve) Benson of Mount Vernon, NY; Heather (Jeb) Odam of Taylorville, IL and Maureen (Arby) Wise of Carlinville, IL; Grandchildren: Robert and John Benson, Ava and Baron Odam, Ella and Beau Wise; Mother: Jean Dec of Bloomingdale, IL; Brothers: John Dec of Bloomingdale, IL; Tom Dec of River Grove, IL and Jeff (Mary) Dec of Bloomingdale, IL; Her Father-in-law and Mother-in-law: Richard and Jean Wilson of Taylorville, IL and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father: Walter Dec.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville, IL. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville, IL with Reverend Bill Kerns officiating. Private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
Keeping with Chris’s wishes the family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to the Davis Memorial Christian Church, 1500 West Franklin Street, Taylorville, Il 62568.
