Bruce Glendal Barger, 86, of Kincaid, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 1:55 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. He was born July 18, 1928 in Harrisburg, IL. The Son of Troas and Margie (Foster) Barger. He married Adelle Noreuil on February 26, 1950 in Taylorville, IL having just celebrated their 65th Anniversary. He was a retired computer programmer from the Illinois Secretary of State. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force; He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville having served as a greeter and Usher. In his former years he served as a member of the Taylorville Lions Club and a Gideon to spread the word of God. He was blessed to have volunteered 12 years at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He loved to read, travel, enjoyed the Taylorville Senior Citizens trips. He was thrilled meeting people and sharing the word of God. He loved God, others and it showed in his actions. He was also on the Kincaid school board for many years. His family and friends also enjoyed his witty sense of Humor. He also enjoyed going out to eat and his favorite meal was waffles.

Sammy (Janice) Barger of Iowa; Sisters: Dereatha Flowers of Heartsville, IL; Half-Sisters: Marilyn Reed of Harrisburg, IL; Bertha “Beth” (Chester) Smith of Carrier Mills, IL; Velma (Tommy) Stockdale of Vienna, IL; Jeeannie (Bob) Carraker of Harrisburg, IL; Janice (Mike) Oldham of Harrisburg, IL; Betty (Brad) Irvin of Carmi, IL; Step-Sisters: Judy Pike of Harrisburg, IL; Violet Jeffries of Onaway, MI; Step-Brother: Zack Morris Jr. of Marquet, MI; Aunts: Mary Malone of Rosiclaire, IL, Wanda (Harry) Fryer of Harrisburg, IL; Daughter-in-Law: Sherryl (Roger) McMullin of Holt, MO; Lots of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Step-Mother: Hazel Barger, Son Michael Barger who was a minister of music, Half-Brother: Alvin Barger.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with military honors provided by the VFW Post #4495, American Legion Post 73, and AMVETS Post #29. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville, IL.
