Lois L. Cook, 86, of Taylorville, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was born July 30, 1928 in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Henry & Edna (Raymond) Godwin, deceased.

Lois was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Taylorville and part of the golf league at Lake Shore Golf Course in Taylorville. She had worked as a bookkeeper for many different businesses. She loved working in her garden and tending to her flowers, golfing, trips to the boat, and animals. Most of all, she loved her family.

Lois Godwin and Arden L. Cook were married on November 17, 1945 in the Henton Church of God. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons: Phillip Cook, Taylorville, IL and Dave Cook, Springfield, IL; 3 grandchildren: Kenny Cook; Zachary Cook; Zoey Cook; great grandson, Hunter; brother: Henry Wayne Godwin & wife Dixie, Baxter, TN ; and sisters: Ilena Steeby, Pana, IL; Doris Cox, Pana, IL; Linda Sarver, Pana, IL. Besides her parents & husband, she was preceded by 2 brothers, Leroy & Leon Godwin.

Memorials may be made to the Christian County Senior Citizen Center, 701 W. Adams St., Taylorville, IL 62568.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
