John Lewis Forbes, 90, of Edinburg, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2015 at 10:53 a.m. at his residence in Edinburg. He was born June 14, 1925 in Peoria, IL, the Son of Lewis and Yvonne (Leveque) Forbes. He married Marion McMillan on December 22, 1949 in Springfield. worked as an educational administrator and a property manager.John was a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville, IL; Rotary International Club (founding member of Springfield Sunrise Rotary Club); NRA; IREM/BOMA; American Kennel Club, Missouri Hunting Spaniel Club, Gateway Upland Hunt Club. 

He is survived by his Wife: Marion of Edinburg, IL; Children: Susan (James) Matthew of Alachua, FL; John Scott (Katrina) Forbes of Franklin, IN; Sally (Steven) Weiss of Mansfield, IL; Sandy (David) Hendricks of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Amy (David) Jackson; Jennifer (Erik) Johnson; Lenore (Bruno) Matthew; Danielle (Timothy) Matthew; John Christopher Forbes; Amanda (David) Tedley; Kimberlie (Sal) Flauto; Randi (Matt) Sutter; Stuart (Sheena) Weiss; Erika Weiss; Elyse Hendricks; Erynn Hendricks; Ethan Hendricks; Great-Grandchildren: Branith Forbes, Lori Weiss, Kelly Weiss, Gabriel Sutter, Isabella Flauto, Oliva Flauto, Aubrey Sutter, Markus Johnson, Isabella Sweeney; Brother-in-Law John S. McMillan; Sister-in-Law: Katherine O’Connor; Several Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his Sister, Germaine Katherine “Kay” Elliot.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
