Lowell L. Swearingen, 81 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 4:29 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. He was born on November 23, 1934 in Jacksonville, IL the Son of James Beverly and Hazel (Steffens) Swearingen. He married Joan Rupert on January 25, 1957 in Jacksonville, IL.  He was a beloved Teacher, Friend and Mentor for over 30 years in the Taylorville/Stonington School districts.

Surviving are his Wife Joan of Taylorville, IL; Son: Charles (Kristy) Swearingen of Carlinville, IL; Special Friend: Lois Hesse of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Alexander and Joey; Sister: Oueda Fairfield of Jacksonville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son Kurt Swearingen and Brother: Gerald Swearingen.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
