Martin E. Wilson, 57, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:50 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 7, 1959 in Harlingen, Texas, the son of Willie D. and Helen L. (Shadowens) Wilson. He married Donna G. Smith (Marsaglia) on May 29, 1993 in Taylorville. Martin truly enjoyed coaching JFL football, and did so for several years. He loved riding his Harley and spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. Martin was dedicated to his work at GSI as a commodity manager.

Along with his wife Donna of Taylorville, Martin leaves behind his children: Rhiann Martynowski (John) of Chatham, and Zachary Wilson and Tyler Wilson, both of Taylorville; grandchildren: Taylor Martynowski and Macy Martynowski; siblings: Sharon (David) Newell of Harlingen, Texas, Ruby Gooldy of Washington State, Mary Bailie (Chuck) of Ashland, Willie Pope of Taylorville, Rita Oldakowski (John) of Taylorville, and Willie D. Wilson II (Teri) of Taylorville; uncle: Andrew Marucco of Stonington, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and nephew: Staff Sgt. Robert J Wilson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2016, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund had been set up in Martin’s memory at the First National Bank of Taylorville.
