Floyd Durbin

 

Floyd Eugene Durbin Sr., 87, of Taylorville passed away at 7:47p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 16, 1930 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Melvin and Agnes Durbin. He married Dorothy Marie Johnson on May 6, 1946 in Taylorville. Floyd retired from Circle Steele after 35 years and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He had a love for country music and enjoyed playing his guitar. Floyd enjoyed fishing, gardening, and was a skilled repairman of small engines. Most of all he cherished the time spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy; children: Donald Durbin (Ella) of Clarkston, Michigan, Melvin Durbin (Diana) of Nokomis, Gene Durbin (Sandy) of Jefferson City, Oregon, Sherry Stewart of Taylorville, Deanna Vota (Martin) of Taylorville, and Steve Durbin (Nikki) of Taylorville; 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law: Irma Durbin of Biloxi, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 12 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Mr. Durbin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 13 in the funeral home. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
