Ida Margaret Bateson, 91, of Taylorville passed away at 7:15a.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 in her home. She was born on November 19, 1925 in Coello, Illinois, the daughter of William B. and Linda (Marcari) Rogers. She married Wilfred Bateson on July 15, 1944 in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2002. Margaret was a skilled seamstress and previously worked at Rothley’s Dress Factory in Kincaid and Lee’s in Taylorville. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, and enjoyed many summers camping and boating at the family lake lot.

She is survived by her son-in-law: Robert Givens of Taylorville; granddaughter: Alexis Givens, husband Ken McCallon, of Springfield; sisters: Mary Ann Buschon (William) of Taylorville and Wilda Tresso (Frank) of West Frankfort; step great granddaughters: Alena McCallon and Elizabeth McCallon; step great-great granddaughter: Penelope McCallon all of Kirkwood, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter: Cynthia Givens.

Funeral service for Mrs. Bateson will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz and Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation will be from 10 until 11a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
