William L. Herman, 86 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 1:21 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on March 10, 1931 in Booneville, IN the Son of Arnold Herman and Viola Gibson-Ramsey. He married Novella Ramsey on April 23, 1949 in Dowell, IL at her parents’ home. Bill retired as a coal miner at Peabody Mine #10 after 45 years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local #9819.
Surviving are his Wife: Novella Herman of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Charla (Steve) Neal of Morrisonville, IL; Rhonda (Tobin) Watkinson of San Diego, CA; Marlane (Skip) Miller of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Angela Tucker, Erin (Brett) Hogge, Emilie (Seth) Garren, Will McGuire all of Taylorville, IL; Tobin (Alex) Watkinson of Los Angeles, CA, Ashley (George) Perez of Painted Post, NY, Christopher (Chelsea) Miller of Portland, OR, Ramey Nicolae of San Diego, CA; Great-Grandchildren: Matthew (Lexi) Tucker, Mary Tucker, Elliot, Evan, Ethan and Ella Hogge, Olivia and Ava Garren all of Taylorville, IL; Kyle and Tyler McGuire of Pana, IL; Clayton and Callum Miller of Portland, OR; Zola Perez of Painted Post, NY, Sophia Pinon, Asher, Everleigh, Emerson and Viola Grace Nicolae of San Diego, CA; Great-Great Granddaughter: Sophia Tucker of Taylorville, IL; Cousin: Mary Jetta Christensen of Wisconsin, Nephews: Brian Herman, Thomas Herman, Niece: Connie Havener all of Taylorville, IL. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers Charles and Thomas Herman, Granddaughter Meralee Miller and Nephew Mark Herman.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Funeral service starting at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
