Edith L. Taylor, 101, of Edinburg, Illinois passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 30, 1915 in Liberty, Kentucky, the daughter of Luther and Maude (Allen) Witt. She married James C. Taylor on July 15, 1933 in Jamestown, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2004. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Edith devoted her life to raising and caring for her family. She loved to garden, work in her yard, and quilting.

She is survived by her children: Helen Turvey (Everett) of Taylorville, Tony Taylor (Deanna) of Morrisonville, Kay Landgrebe (Gary) of Springfield, Penny Tetzel (Horst) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pamela Brady (Michael) of Caseyville, Illinois; 23 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and brother: Wallace Witt of Somerset, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters: Jeanette Taylor, Juanita Taylor, Rita Johnson, and Charlotte Reed; sisters: Lela Witt, Mary Witt, Opal Helm, and Roberta Atwood; and brothers: Paul Witt, Howard Witt, James Witt, and Luther Witt.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Marrinan officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery, Sharpsburg. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church.
