Bruce Scanland, 77 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 10:10 a.m. at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Shelbyville. He was born on July 26, 1940 in Concordia, KS the Son of Alden T. and Pauline (Hinson) Scanland. He married Janet Tankersley on January 22, 1972 in Taylorville, IL. He worked as a salesman for agricultural products and he was a 32nd degree Master Mason. Bruce was a member of Mound Lodge #122 AF & AM and the First United Methodist Church both in Taylorville. He was a veteran of the United States Army, served in the United States White House during Vietnam.
Surviving are his Wife: Janet Scanland of Taylorville; Daughters: Abigail (Randy) Mueller of Maryland Heights, MO; Beth (Carl) Niemann of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: David, Asher, Jude and Finn Niemann; Wesley and Madeline Mueller; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents and Nephew Scott McCabe.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Inurnment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, with military honors.
