Gary Sams, 67 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 5:24 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on May 14, 1950 in Taylorville, IL the son of Fred Harrison and Phyllis Diane (Garriott) Sams. He married Shirley Eson on June 25, 1977 in Taylorville IL. Gary worked as a Public Service Representative for the State of Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles and he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, IL.  

Surviving are his Wife: Shirley Sams of Taylorville, IL; Sons: Adam (Ashley) Sams of Peoria, IL; Scott Sams of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Brenda (Thomas) Coble of Rockingham, NC; Grandchildren: Lacey Nicole Kathleen Patterson, Michael Grady (Ashley) Patterson, Anthony Bryant Waldo, Nevaeh Coble, Madison Sams, Joel Sams and Grayson Sams; Great-Grandchildren: Michael Carter Brantley, Paige Kathleen Anderson and Kinsley Nichole Smith; Brothers: Terry Sams of Pawnee, IL; Gregg (Anna) Sams of Taylorville, IL; Brad (Beth) Sams of Moweaqua, IL; Brother-in-Laws: David Eson, Paul (Mindy) Morgan; Sister-in-Laws: Kathy Galvin, Edna Eson, Julie Eson and Marilyn Eson; Uncles: Richard Garriott, Gerry (Gwen) Garriott; Aunt: Norma (Harold) Allison; Cousins: Carol (Charlie) Roberts, Tom Bilyeu, George Sams, Donnie (Patti) Sams, Mark (Cindy) Sams, Jenneth (Phil) Doyle, Wendy Martin, Lynn (Chuck) Newton, David Garriott, Diane Whitehouse; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother: Robert Sams, Grandson: Triston Waldo, Mother-in-Law: Carol June Eson, Brother-in-Law: Wayne Eson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. The Funeral Service will follow the visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
