Larry G. Miller

Larry G. Miller, 73, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 11:14 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at his residence.
 
Larry was born December 17, 1944 in Taylorville, IL, the son of William Edward and Alma Anna (DeWerff) Miller.  He married Claudia Davis-Skinner on September 8, 1970 in Morrisonville, IL.  They later divorced.

Larry graduated from Taylorville High School, and then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army.  He served tours in Korea as well as Germany.  Following his service, Larry worked as a farmhand, before gaining employment at Georgia Pacific, where he would retire from after over 26 years as a machine operator.  During his time at Georgia Pacific, he was given the nickname “Rooster.” He worked for GSI briefly after his retirement.  Larry was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club 1425, American Legion Post 73, and a past member of the Taylorville Moose Lodge 1516.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed painting, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and sudoku.  Larry’s greatest enjoyment was being outside, with his children and grandchildren, enjoying a beer, and visiting with the neighborhood folks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Carol Mann; and brother, Charles Miller.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Carol Ann (husband, Tim) Beiermann of Carrollton, IL, Mary Lee (companion, Kirk Spurgeon) Miller of Morrisonville, IL, Lisa M. (husband, Walter) Harker of Taylorville, IL, and Barb (fiancé, Chris Flaherty) Miller of Williston, ND; grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, and Mara Beiermann of Carrollton, IL, Kaysey Jayne Spurgeon and John Wyatt Spurgeon of Morrisonville, IL, Katie LeDuc of Shelbyville, IL, Keirsten Jones of Kincaid, IL, Shaylynn Rockford of Taylorville, IL, and Jack, Sydney, and Madison Miller of Taylorville, IL; great grandchildren, Luna, Leo, Major, Sadie, Ayva, Myah, Bentley, Levi, and Lily; sisters, Evelyn Rogers of Taylorville, IL and Lillian Grace Mangan of Tremont, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation will be accorded prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Ceremony and Visitation: The memorial ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin St., Morrisonville, IL 62546, with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.  The family will receive guests following the ceremony until 7:00 p.m.  Military honors will be provided at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at Morrisonville Cemetery.
