Willie D. Wilson II, 60, of Taylorville passed away at 3:45p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on September 4, 1957 in Harlingen, Texas, the son of Willie D. and Helen L. (Shadowens) Wilson.  He married Terri D. Mitchelson on December 29, 1986 in Taylorville.  Willie worked for over 35 years as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Taylorville.  Willie was a veteran of the US Air Force.  He loved to hunt and fish, was an avid NASCAR fan, and previously spent time working at South Fork Dirt Riders. 
He is survived by his wife: Terri D. Wilson of Taylorville; daughter: Darlene Weigle (Will) of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren: Tyler Farrell, Ethan Weigle, and Elizabeth Weigle; step-children: Adam Dempsey (Monica) and Mandy Dempsey; step-granddaughter: Kinley Dempsey; siblings: Sharon Newell (David) of Harlingen, Texas, Ruby Gooldy of Washington State, Mary Bailie (Chuck) of Oakford, Willie Pope of Taylorville, and Rita Oldakowski (John) of Taylorville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Staff Sgt. Robert J. Wilson; and brother: Martin E. Wilson.
Mr. Wilson will be cremated, and inurnment will take place on his son’s gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery.  The family will host a celebration of Willie’s life at a later date.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Willie, or condolences to the family, may be left online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com
