Gloria Ann Carter

Gloria Ann Carter, 87, of Taylorville passed away at 6:45p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family.  She was born on September 20, 1930 in Taylorville, the daughter of Joseph and Iva Ann (Mahan) Rasmussen.  She married Robert Carter on September 12, 1948 in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2015.  Gloria graduated from Taylorville Township High School.  She is a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church where she was active in many ministries, including the Worship Committee, Christian Women’s Fellowship, Evangelism Team, and served as an Associate Diaconate.  Gloria was a homemaker and also farmed alongside her husband for over 40 years and they were active in the American Ag Movement.  Gloria was also involved in many organizations including: PTA, Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry, Home Extension, and enjoyed crocheting with the Happy Hookers at the Senior Center.

 
She is survived by her daughters: Janeen (Greg) Gruber of Pana and Barbara (Joe) Miller of Taylorville; grandchildren: Rob (Mollie) Waterman, Carrie Waterman, Nick (Rachel) Waterman, Chris Miller, and Jake Miller; great grandchildren: Ben Waterman, Eli Waterman, Ashton Bennison, Aaron Waterman, and Rowan Waterman; sister: Barbara Davis of Seattle, Washington; sister-in-law: Jean Rasmussen of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother: Royal Rasmussen; brother-in-law: Dick Davis; and son-in-law: Benjamin Waterman.  


The funeral service for Gloria will be held at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville with Rev. Bill Kerns officiating.  Visitation will be Monday form 5 until 7p.m. in the church.  Burial will be in the Owaneco Cemetery. 

 

Memorials may be made to Davis Memorial Christian Church or the Davis Memorial Preschool.
