Mary Jane Barry, 88, of Taylorville died at 11:17a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  She was born on September 4, 1929 in Pawnee, Illinois, the daughter of Mary E. (Fitzsimmons) Minder and William Springer Minder. She married William L. Barry on October 27, 1962 in Pawnee, and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2007. She retired from working first at St. Mary’s School and then at the Christian County Medical Clinic.  Mrs. Barry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and the Catholic Daughters of America.  She was a tireless volunteer throughout her life, devoting her time to many organizations including: Meals on Wheels, Advantage 55, the Red Cross Blood Bank, and St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her son: Michael Barry (Jennifer) of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter: Mary Rita Barry of Taylorville; sister: Anne Minder; brothers: John Minder and William Minder; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Joseph Minder and James Minder, and sister: Barbara Adcock.

A funeral mass for Mrs. Barry will be held 10:30a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating.  Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will take place on Monday from 5 until 7p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  A prayer service will take place at 4:45p.m., prior to the visitation on Monday.
