Brett K. Mense, 57 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 4:59 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on March 9, 1961 in Taylorville, IL the son of Larry and Sharon (Hunt) Mense. He married Laurie Kenny on March 15, 1985 in Springfield, IL. As an inventory analyst at ADM in Decatur, IL, he was able to travel extensively, forming friendships both here and around the world. Brett loved all sports and spent many years playing and coaching baseball and softball. He was an active member of the community and loved by all who knew him. Brett knew no strangers, and always had a smile, a laugh or helping hand for anyone in need. 

 

Surviving are his Wife: Laurie Mense of Taylorville, IL; Sons: Brett Mense of Brooklyn, NY and Kyle Mense of Taylorville, IL; Grandpuppies: Elle, Lucy and Gus; Parents: Larry and Sharon Mense of Taylorville, IL; Sister: Rhonda Mense of Taylorville, IL; Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and many Friends who are family. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents: Tony and Sis Hunt and Henry and Irene Mense; Great-Uncle: Ed Smith; Uncles: Davey Hunt and Duane Hunt.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Memorial service will follow the visitation starting at 7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
