Norma Jean Smith

Norma Jean Smith, 84, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Kincaid, passed away at 6:10p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Florida.  She was born on September 18, 1933 in Kincaid, the daughter of Cletus “Buster” and Dema (Guidotti) Foster.  Norma graduated from South Fork High School in 1951.  She married Norman Glenwood Smith on August 19, 1951 and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2011.  Mr. and Mrs. Smith lived on a farm west of Tovey for 60 years.  She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid.  Norma worked for the State of Illinois for 12 years, retiring in 1992.  Taking care of the farmstead was her life’s joy.  She spent many hours manicuring the yard and house.  They loved to travel the country, first in a pickup truck camper, and then the “RV” that they truly cherished, retiring it to “the lot” in Silver Lakes R.V. resort in Naples, Florida for winters in 2005.  The summers spent at Estes Park, Colorado were some of the most cherished memories.

More than anything, Norma loved her family by whom she will be greatly missed.  She is survived by her children: Cleta (Vic) Menossi of Taylorville, Cinda (Dave) Johnson of Rochester, David (Gloria) Smith of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Julie (Paul) Moody of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandchildren: Shannon German, Ryan Menossi, Kevin German, Adam Menossi, Michael Smith, and Sarah Smith; 8 great grandchildren; sister: Donna Wilson of Dectur; and her great dog Lola.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandchild: Jamie German.
