Mary Louise Johnson, lifelong resident of Taylorville, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. Mary was born on July 5, 1930 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of Lewis and Lula (Tex) Wright. She graduated from Taylorville High school. Mary married Wayne K. Johnson of Nokomis in Austin, TX on June 17, 1951. Mary was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mary met and made many friends through art classes, antique shopping, and she loved going to art shows, Mary had a knack for decorating and she and Wayne definitely enjoyed their flower garden and sweet home at 604 E. Main Cross. After Wayne retired the traveled abroad many times. Mary and Wayne were always quick to offer up trips to friends to the covered Bridge Festivals and other fun spots. Mary was a lively person with a contagious laugh and friends, nurses, aides loved her “spunk”.
Mary was survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Brown of Taylorville, several nieces, nephews and very close friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, infant brother Francis, and sisters Helen Mae Brown and Agnes who was in the Benedictine Order (Sister Mary Regina).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Msgr. David Lantz officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
