David E. Johnson

David E. Johnson, 62 of Taylorville, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018. One of 10 children, Dave was born in Springfield on November 26, 1955, to Leonard and Allene (McClelland) Johnson. He graduated from Griffin High School and worked at Fiat Allis in Springfield for ten years. He married his best friend and soulmate, Debbie Porter, on April 15, 1978, and together they shared over 40 beautiful years of life. Dave enjoyed working in many capacities, including his family farm, managing Aldi Foods in Taylorville for 12 years, and for the last 20 years as a Retail Manager for Walmart. Dave was incredibly resourceful and enjoyed working with his hands. Mostly woodworking, Dave carefully, immaculately crafted nearly all the woodwork and furniture within his home.  Dave would have done anything for anybody, and truly lived for others. He treasured tending to his garden. Dave was a proud member of the NRA.  Anything extracurricular his children did, Dave was there including boy scouts and girls softball.
