John R. Weaver, 70, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at 5:27 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at his residence.

John was born January 24, 1948 in Taylorville, IL the son of Verne and Vera (Roberts) Weaver. Following high school, he proudly served our country in the United States Army. John went on to work for Norfolk Southern as a car man for 16 years, and then retired from Olin’s in Alton, IL. He enjoyed playing lap and pedal steel guitar, and was a long-time member of the VFW Post 4495 in Taylorville. John was also a CB radio enthusiast, using the handle “Red Dragon”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Larry Weaver.

John is survived by his brother, Patrick V. Weaver of Taylorville, IL; and many life-long friends.

Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL, with military honors being provided by the Department of Defense and Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Inurnment will follow the ceremony.
