Joseph Robert Brown

Joseph Robert Brown, 31 of Des Moines, IA, passed away of natural causes on Sept. 18, 2018 at his home in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on March 11, 1987 in Concord, Calif. He is a graduate of Walnut Creek High School in Des Moines and was working in the food services industry. Joe had a passion and talent for music from a very young age. He played bass guitar and loved playing music with his family. He cherished being a big brother to his younger sisters and he devoted much of his life to his loving partner Michelle and his many close friends. He loved watching movies, playing vintage video games, camping, being outdoors, and he always enjoyed a good Midwestern thunderstorm. He was devoted to his pets and will be terribly missed by his three loving cats: Leon, Juniper, and Gonzo. He will always be remembered for his kindness, his compassionate heart, and his amazing sense of humor. Although he left this Earth far too early, he will be kept alive in the hearts and memories of all the people whose lives he touched.

Joe is survived by his parents, Mary (Burton) Brown of Taylorville, and William and Tara Brown of Irvine, Calif. He also is survived by his brother Michael of Des Moines, lowa; sisters Victoria and Rachael Brown of Irvine, Calif; Grandmother: Rosemary Brown, uncle Robert and aunt Julie Brown of Taylorville, aunts Rita Werner, Kathleen (David) Driskell of Taylorville, Mary Anne (Jeffery) Oller of Houston, Texas, Donna (David) Hardin of Taylorville, Dorothy (Clete) Davis of Taylorville, and Nancy (Raymond) of Des Moines, Iowa and his partner Michelle McCullough. Joe also leaves behind many cousins, friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Gladys Burton, his paternal grandfather William J. Brown and his uncle Stephen L. Brown.

A "Celebration Of Life" service was held in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday Sept. 22, 2018 for friends to share their memories and love for Joey.

Local services will be at Sutton Memorial Home on Wednesday Sept. 26, 2018 with a visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. and the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Sr. Rose McKeown officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.
