Roger Lee Coffey

Roger Lee Coffey, 78 of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Stonington, passed away at 1:00am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Heritage Hospice in Springfield. He was born on October 30, 1940 in Taylorville, the son of James K. and Mary Louise (Reinhardt) Coffey. Roger attended Mary Crest College and later Ambrose University where he earned his MBA. He worked for Caterpillar for over 31 years retiring as an Operations Manager. Roger also taught quality management classes at Blackhawk College. He was a member and former treasurer of the Scott County Democrats and Exalted Ruler of Elk Lodge 298 in Davenport. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the VFW.

He is survived by his brother: Mark Coffey (Peggy) of Taylorville; nieces: Brandi Clayton (Jeremy) of Mt. Auburn and Kara McCullough (Tad) of Taylorville; and great nieces and nephews: Logan, Levi, Hannah, and Tanner Clayton, and Averi and Alyvia McCullough. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Coffey will be cremated, and a graveside military honors will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 21 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the workers and neighbors at Hickory Estates in Taylorville for all their help and friendships.

Memorials may be left to the Parkinson’s Foundation. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
