Merle-Ree Millburg

Merle-Ree Millburg, 103, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Taylorville Care Center, in Taylorville, IL.

Merle-Ree was born February 24, 1915 in Farmersville, IL, the daughter of Emil and Della (Green) Beil. She married Bernhard T. “Doc” Millburg on February 14, 1936 in Farmersville, IL. He preceded her in death in 1998.

Merle-Ree graduated from Farmersville High School in 1933. She was a homemaker, and assisted Doc in running the family business, Millburg’s Drug Store, for over 30 years. Merle-Ree was also a very talented seamstress, sewing many wedding dresses, and clothing for her family and the community. She was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, and their Altar and Rosary Society since 1948. Her family meant everything to her, and she would do anything for them.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Tom Millburg; 3 grandchildren; and 11 siblings.

Merle-Ree is survived by her children, Joyce (companion, Herb Hawkins) White and Janice Hough both of Morrisonville, IL, Ted (wife, Phyllis) and Terry (wife, Barbara) Millburg both of Taylorville, IL, and Jill Whalen of Jacksonville, FL; 19 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren, and several on the way; as well as, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Prayer Service: The family will receive guests from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin St., Morrisonville, IL 62546. The visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Maurice Catholic Church, 706 SE 4th St., Morrisonville, IL 62546 with the Very Rev. Albert Allen, V.F. celebrant.

Interment will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville.
