James Leo Cassidy

James Leo Cassidy, 90 of Keyesport, IL (formerly of Nokomis, IL) passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.at his residence. He was born on June 29, 1928 in Rountree Township in Nokomis, IL the son of Leo and Pauline (Gearhard) Cassidy. He married Juanita Fern Neisler on November 15, 1947 in Mayfield, KY. James worked as a farmer, was a truck driver for over 45 yrs and was the owner of Jim’s Bike Shop in Nokomis. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Nokomis, as well as the American Farm Heritage Museum and was a proud BMX Team Sponsor for Jim’s Bike Shop. James enjoyed being a vendor for everything from antiques to produce to bicycles and he loved to collect toy tractors and Anheuser-Busch memorabilia.

He is survived by his wife Juanita of Keyesport, IL: Son James Bradley Cassidy of Nokomis, IL. Grandchildren Jacqueline Sue Garvey (husband Mark) of Columbia, MO and Jason Leo Cassidy of St. Louis, MO. Great Grandchildren: August Leo Garvey of Columbia, MO and Autumn Patricia Garvey also of Columbia, MO. Nieces and Nephews: Craig Cassidy, Karen (husband Ivan) Benning, Carol (husband Jim) Hempen and Cathy (husband Dave) Vincent. Sister-in-law: Jeanette Cassidy. James was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lynis Cassidy.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 9:00-11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation on Saturday January 19, 2019 at 11:00 am in the church with Pastor Bert Eickhoff officiating and the burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Nokomis, IL.
