Don Anderson Jr.

Don Anderson Jr., 63 of Mt. Auburn passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1:07 a.m. at his home with his loving family by his side. Don was born on October 7, 1955 in Taylorville, IL to Don Anderson Sr and Alverna Faye Anderson. He was raised by his beloved great Uncle & Aunt, Maurice and Cynthia Hebenstreit, on their family farm in Stonington, IL. He married the love of his life, Geneva Himstedt, on October 14, 1973 in Litchfield, IL. His wife, daughter, son & his grandkids meant everything to him. He farmed the family farm for a number of years. He loved to hunt and fish. In his younger days, he loved taking motorcycle rides. Don graduated from Stonington High School and attended Richland Community College and completed their Paramedic Program. He was a Certified Paramedic and instructor. He worked as a Paramedic at Decatur Ambulance for several years. He taught EMS classes at Richland Community College and at the Mt. Auburn Firehouse. He was a volunteer fireman with the Mt. Auburn Fire Department for 45 years.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Geneva; his son, Jeremy (Crystal) Anderson of Stonington; his daughter, Kristy (Joe) Carey of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Trysten and Gideon Anderson and Trinity and Madeline Carey. He is also survived by a brother, Bruce (Caroline) Anderson; sisters, Carolyn (Chuck) Carter and Deb Sanders; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved uncle and aunt, his parents, & one brother, Dave Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Danny Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Grove City Cemetery in Grove City, IL.
