David L. Hawley

David L. Hawley, 87 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 5:23 p.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on February 22, 1932 in Odin, IL the son of Irven and Effie (Booth) Hawley. He married Pauline Pitts on August 23, 1950 and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2004. David served in the U.S. Air Force in France and Germany, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. David then furthered his education, receiving his associates Degree from Centralia Jr. College, his Bachelors Degree from McKendry College, and his Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. David began his teaching career in the Centralia School District; he also taught at Johnsonville, IL and finished his career in Taylorville, IL. He was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, participating in his Bible Study Group and spending time with his family that also loved spending time with him. 
He is survived by his Sons: Mark (Lynn) Hawley of Kell, IL; and Michael (Rhonda) Hawley of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Michael (Heidi) Hawley, Mark Hawley, Joni (Jason) Piscia, Joshua (Ryan Renee) Hawley, Jeffrey Hawley and Fiancé Rachel Krekel and Nine Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, Sisters and brothers-in-law: Vera (Russell) Stroup and Margie (Otto) Frimel. 
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville with Pastor James Jones officiating. Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, IL.
