William A. "Bill" Siemers

William A. “Bill” Siemers, 75 of Taylorville, passed away at 6:15p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Taylorville. He was born on October 28, 1943 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the son of William F. and Lucile E. (Langenhahn) Siemers. He married Margaretta B. Merriman on October 28, 1997 in Taylorville. Bill was a member of Chicago Teamsters Local 710, and worked many years on the docks in Chicago before becoming an over-the-road driver. He was very active in his church, Taylorville Evangelical Free Church. Bill loved the outdoors and spent countless hours working in his yard and garden. He had a love of cars and owned several classic cars during his life, including a red 1967 Camaro 454-LS6 that be built from the ground up. Bill also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working out. He had a love for music, especially the Blues and 50’s music, and also enjoyed playing his guitar. Bill and Gretta loved to travel, especially to Florida and out West. He leaves behind his beloved dog Freddie, who was always by his side. Bill was a beloved father, grandfather, and husband and was very proud of his family.

Bill is survived by his wife: Gretta Siemers of Taylorville; children: Lydia A. Brazeau (Craig) of Plainfield, Julie A. Jetzer (Michael) of Catawba, North Carolina, Barry Russell Rahar (Angie Hill) of Taylorville, and Rachel B. Rahar of Taylorville; grandchildren: Elizabeth A. Rahar (companion, Sarah Ginger), Victoria J. Brazeau, Tristin J. Brazeau, Adrian W. Jetzer, and Daniel M. Jetzer; siblings: Dr. Paul Timothy Siemers (Beverly) of Dallas, Texas, Carol L. Siemers of Nashville, Tennessee, and Robert M. Siemers (Kendra) of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law: Samuel Merriman; sister and brother-in-law: Molly and Larry Alaria of Taylorville; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 11:30a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Don Beetem officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday from 10a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30a.m.
