Sharon Kay Rudolph

Sharon Kay Rudolph, 74 of Mt. Auburn, passed away at her residence at 9:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2019. Sharon was born on January 7, 1945 in Springfield, the daughter of John E. and Thelma L. (Vandyke) Smith of Edinburg.

    
Sharon loved riding her Harley, walking her dog, Pretty Girl, and enjoying her family.  She worked 10 years driving a school bus at Everest Transportation, and retired from SMTD after 27 years of service as a dispatcher, road supervisor, and finally as a superintendent of transportation. Sharon loved to dance, and never could resist getting up to do so. Her happy spirit will certainly be missed by those who knew and loved her.

 

Sharon is survived by her husband Tom, whom she wed in 1963; daughter: Shonte’ Knipfer, son: Daren Rudolph; sister: Jeanette (Curtis) Scheifinger, brother: David (Debbie) Smith, granddaughters: Rachel (Cory ) Knipfer, Krystal (Tim) Rudolph, and Cady Lou Knipfer, grandsons: Andrew, Camron, and Collin Knipfer, great-granddaughter: Georgia Rudolph, great-grandson: Emmet Quinn, former daughter-in-law: Cathy (Tony) Rudolph, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her sister: Ramona (Gary) Turner, granddaughter: Brittany Rudolph, grandson: Dylan Knipfer, and son-in-law: Daniel Knipfer.

 

Funeral service will be held at 10:00a.m. Friday, August 16, at McClure funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Lewis officiating. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Buckhart. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, also at the funeral home.
