Francis Lacey

Francis Neil Lacey; 87 of Jonesville, South Carolina, formerly of Palmer, IL passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at his home in Jonesville. He was born in Arthur, Illinois on July 4, 1932 to Ruby Opal (Gibson) and Clyde Oscar Lacey. After graduating from Arthur High School in 1950 he enlisted into the United States Navy.  His enlistment encompassed the time period of the Korean War. After being honorably discharged he returned to Central Illinois.

 

It was in Decatur, Illinois that he had the opportunity to meet JoAnn Christian. These two fell in love and were married on February 18, 1957 in Hernando, Mississippi. This blissful union lasted 61 years until JoAnn’s death in December 2017.
After their marriage they moved to Palmer, Illinois and purchased a service station. The service station became a cornerstone of this small community which they owned and operated over 40 years. This business was not only a service station but a coffee shop, restaurant, and automotive repair facility where the world’s issues were discussed over a $.10 cup of coffee.


After retiring he moved to various locations to include Colorado, Tennessee and South Carolina.
Frank and JoAnn raised three children, their oldest child Cynthia Kay South lives with her husband Gary South in Jonesville, South Carolina. Cindy has two children Jason and Dustin Tull who also live in South Carolina. Jason and his wife Dawn have two children. Dustin and his wife Lacey have two children. Their second child, Brian Scott Lacey and his wife Jodi live in Fort Collins, Colorado. Brian has three children Chance, Brianna and Addison. Their youngest child, Bradley Neil Lacey and his wife Sheila live in Monroe, Tennessee.


Frank was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father as well as four brothers Bill, Vern, Ross and Morris (half -brother) and one sister Shirley.


Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. The interment will be in the Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, Illinois.
