Fern Hornbuckle, 89, of Taylorville, IL, formerly of Morrilton, AR, passed away at 1:34 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Fern was born on January 20, 1930 in Cleveland, AR, the daughter of Hayes and Bertie (Russell) Scroggins.  She married Robert Hornbuckle on November 29, 1958 in Bee Branch, AR. 

Fern was a member of the Church of Christ in Pana, IL and Morrilton, AR.  She was a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, formerly known as Arkansas State Teachers College.  Fern was an avid reader and excellent crossword puzzle player.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Euin (wife, Elosie) Scroggins, Weldon (wife, Eulita) Scroggins, Dewey Crow, and Mildred (husband, Jim) Mahan; and her grandson, Clinton J Hornbuckle.

Fern is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons, Greg (wife, Patty) Hornbuckle of Taylorville, IL, and Bruce Hornbuckle of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Cynthia (Jason Handegan) Woods, Kate Graham of Taylorville, IL and Chad (wife, Nena) Hornbuckle of Edwardsville, IL; great grandchildren, Kyle Woods of Hilton Head Island, SC, Cole Woods of Taylorville, IL, Katie & Erik Hornbuckle of Walnut Creek, CA, Lucas Hornbuckle of Taylorville, IL, Michael and Monroe Mason of Taylorville, IL, and Brynn, Grant and Brock Hornbuckle of Edwardsville, IL.  

Graveside ceremonies will be held at Old Liberty Cemetery, near Cleveland, AR at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 with Pastor Charles Bain officiating.
