Kathy Sue Flowers-Light

Kathy Sue Flowers-Light, of Taylorville, passed away on Tuesday, September 24th at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

 

Kathy was born on October 9th, 1953 to Katherine "Judy" Taylor Dains, and Alpha Dean Musser. Kathy grew up in Nokomis where she met and married Tim Flowers on June 5th, 1971.  They had three children together.  The couple later divorced. Kathy spent most of her life in the Nokomis/Fillmore area.  She enjoyed crafting and being outdoors. Kathy had a love for dogs and had several faithful companions over the years.  The latest being Piper. Kathy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt.  Anyone who knew her loved her.  Kathy could always be counted on to lend a helping hand, offer a piece of advice, listen when you needed it and offer up a glass of sweet tea.

 

Kathy’s greatest joy in life was her kids and grandkids.  Kathy is survived by her children, Timothy Warren Flowers and companion Mary Burrell of Effingham; Joshua Dean Flowers and fiancée Ashley Harlow of Nokomis; Tiffany Brooke Flowers and companion James Porter of Arizona; Grandchildren, Dakota and Haley Thompson, Carter and Chloe Flowers, Lilly Flowers, Karlee Wells, and Xayden Flowers; Siblings, Lana (Earl) Loomis of Taylorville, Sandy Cutright of Bridgeport, Tammy Cook of Edinburg, Lisa (Scott) Heldebrandt of Nokomis, Melissa Cook and companion Steve Scott of Pana, Jeff Musser of Missouri, and Donald Musser of Lawrenceville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Jerry Dains, and sister Deana Potts.

 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Nokomis, on Saturday, September 28th at 11:00 A.M. McClure Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Donations in memory of Kathy can be made out to the Christian County Animal Shelter, 300 S.
