Sharon Darlene Mense, 78 of Taylorville, died at 7:57 p.m. Thursday October 31, 2019 at Landmark of Richton Park near Chicago. She was born on June 13, 1941 in Tovey, the daughter of Glenn “Tony” and Miriam (Smith) Hunt.  Sharon began her fairy tale by eloping with Larry Mense on May 28, 1960 in Byrdstown, Tennessee, immediately following their high school graduation. She truly enjoyed working with the public managing S & L True Value in Kincaid, and later working at Uncle John’s Restaurant in Edinburg for many years. She was an avid bowler most of her life, and was dedicated to supporting her daughter, Rhonda, in the Special Olympics. Sharon was a devoted wife and mother and will be dearly missed.

Sharon is survived by her husband Larry Mense of Taylorville, their daughter: Rhonda Mense of Taylorville; daughter-in-law: Laurie Mense of Taylorville; two grandsons: Brett Ryan Mense of Brooklyn, NY, and Kyle Edward (Alyssa) Mense of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son: Brett Kelly Mense, and her three brothers: Davey Lee Hunt, Duane Hunt, and William Hunt.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Bethany Cemetery on Sangchris Lake in Taylorville; a final resting place chosen to be near her family who has gone before her and for Sharon’s love of the outdoors. Pastor Steven Smith will officiate.
