Richard Lyman Jacobs, 73 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020 at 12:44 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. He was born on June 3, 1946 in Taylorville, IL the son of Robert & Dolores (Moore) Jacobs. He married Lynda McCaleb on November 21, 1970 in Taylorville, IL. He was also an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. Richard was a lifelong resident of Taylorville and retired in 2003 as a Systems Software Analyst from Ameren.  He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching varied sporting events, including women’s softball, bowling and the St. Louis Cardinals. His favorite pastime was golfing and if not out at Lakeshore Golf Course could be found traveling the country to play different courses. He marshalled several pro golf tournaments across the country. He enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, playing games with his family and was the go-to for treats for his great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.  

He is survived by his Wife: Lynda Jacobs of Taylorville, IL; Sons: Randy Cummins of Christiana, TN; Aaron Jacobs of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Teresa (Greg) Durbin of Taylorville, IL and Suzanne (Andrea) Jacobs of South Elgin, IL. Grandchildren: Ashley (Nathan) Baker, Seth Durbin, Dalton Bell, Brayden Jacobs, Lauren Cummins, Elyse (Devon) Jensen, Austin Jacobs and Abigail Jacobs, Great Grandchildren: Dylan Stone, Addison Stone, Zoe Stone, Rozlyn Stone, Memphis Baker and Phoenix Baker; Sister: Debra Jacobs; an Aunt, Uncle and Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers: Robert E. Jacobs and H. David Jacobs and a grandson: Cameron Cummins.

Richard will be cremated and there will be no services. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
