Raymond Earl Wiseman Sr.

Raymond Earl Wiseman Sr, 84, of Taylorville passed away peacefully, with family, after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 2:53 a.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on March 9, 1936 in Stonington, IL the son of Rayburn “Jack” Hogge and Louise Schubach Wiseman. He married Theresa Agnes Myerscough on July 6, 1957 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2016. Raymond was a retired inspector at Caterpillar. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.  Ray was quite the charming Renaissance man with an intelligence that made him a master of all trades.


He is survived by his daughters: Debbie Wiseman of Taylorville and Janice (Steve) Marvel of Waggoner; grandchildren: Carrie Rolofson, Kimberly White, Ana Wiseman, Julian Marvel, Ian Marvel; great-grandchildren: Kennedy White, Adelle Rolofson, and Fiona Deckard; Siblings: Phillip “Red” (Cubby) Wiseman, Patty McWard, Kenny Carl (Maggie) Wiseman, Josie Rodden, Jim Wiseman, Dick (Delores) Wiseman, Beulah (Tom) Paar, Tom (Linda) Wiseman, Tim and Dale Wiseman, Catherine (Lee Don) Vaughn, Jerry Hogge, Janice (Carl) Tucker, Marie Sheedy, Julitta (Ron) Harrison and Gina Carver. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife: Theresa, Son: Raymond, Siblings: Cleta Painter, John Wiseman, Joyce Dishon, Ricky and Kerby Hogge.


It was Raymond’s wish to be cremated.  Due to Covid 19 there will be no services scheduled at this time.  Inurnment will be held at a later date.


Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
