Roberta Jane (Smothers) Stout, 77 of Pawnee passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 8:32 a.m. at Northwest Community Hospital with her loving daughter by her side. She was born on March 21, 1943 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Boehme) Smothers. She married Dallas C. Stout Jr. on October 7, 1962 in the Pawnee Presbyterian Church. Roberta was an active member of the community. She worked for 21 years as a library aide at the Pawnee Community Schools and enjoyed taking many a ticket at the football and basketball games. She was also a 50-year plus member of the Pawnee Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and she was a former advisory board member for the Pawnee Assembly of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.  

 

She is survived by her Husband: Dallas C. Stout Jr. of Pawnee, IL; Daughter: Sheila Stout of Arlington Heights, IL; Sisters: Betty (Larry) Sutton of Taylorville, IL and Bonnie Hart of Decatur, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Uncle: Elmer Boehme, Daughters: Catherine Louise and Darla Sue Stout; her Brother: Charles Edward Smothers and Brother-in-Law: John Hart.

 

Due to the COVID-19 there will be a private family visitation at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 12:00 noon at the Chatham Community Cemetery in Chatham, IL with Pastor Chuck Kurfman officiating.

 

Memorials may be made to Sunshine Assembly #114 IORG, or Pawnee Chapter #436 OES, or Pawnee Food Pantry or the Pawnee United Methodist Church.
