Melvin E. Lohse, 90 of Mechanicsburg passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 3:00 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on April 20, 1930 in Prairie Town, IL the son of August and Pearl (Easter) Lohse. He married Linda Metz on August 24, 1953 in Pocahontas, AR and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2019. Melvin was a retired farmer, a member of Foursquare Church of Springfield, IL and he was a Baptist deacon. He was a member of the Builders of Eternity and World Changers, Rochester Masonic Lodge #0635 AF& AM, Ansar Shrine, and Scottish Rites.

He is survived by his Sons: Sons: Douglas (Debbie) Lohse of Decatur, IL; Melvin (Joyce) Lohse of Mt. Auburn IL; Richard (Charleen) Lohse of Decatur, IL; Daughter: Daughter: Beverly (Gary) Pope of Blue Mound, IL; Grandchildren: Jennifer, Jon, Jamie, Roxann, Michele, Kirby, Kaley and Kelsey; Sister: Hulda Sims of Arkansas; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son: Paul Lohse, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Cemetery in rural Edinburg, IL with Pastor Mike Tozer officiating. Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements. Please sign our online guest book at suttonmemorialhome.com
