Eddie H. Harris

Eddie H. Harris, 71, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:38 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his residence.

Eddie was born July 17, 1948 in Stanford, KY, the son of Lloyd and Ella (Simpson) Harris.  He married Brenda J. Titran on December 8, 1969 at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville, and they later divorced.  Eddie then married Marsha McKinnon on May 3, 1980, and they later divorced.  He then remarried Brenda (Titran) Harris on September 23, 2005.

 

Eddie worked for Peabody #10 for many years until his retirement in 1994.  He is a member of the NRA, Quail Forever, and the United Mine Workers of America.  Eddie enjoyed anything that had to do with hunting or guns.  He may have been a man of little words, but he was as ornery as can be.  Eddie was an avid NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed Western T.V. shows and movies.  His favorite pastime was meeting with his coffee club at Country Kitchen and Spring Garden.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eddie H. Harris, Jr.; sisters, Bessie Harris, Sally Pankey, and Debbie Meyers; and brothers, Dewey, Kirby, and Ralph Harris.

 

Eddie is survived by his wife, Brenda J. Harris of Taylorville; children, Angela (Gary) Harris Dain of Taylorville, David (Tammy) Harris of Palmer, Jennifer (Sean) Farris of Rochester, Jaclyn Harris of Tuttle, OK, and Jillian Shull of Kincaid; step-children, Phillip Windell of Taylorville, and Dana (David) Molloy of Stillwater, OK; grandchildren, Jesse (Tori) Dain, Shelbie Harris, Shawnie Harris, Austin Harris, Shaylie Harris, Ella Farris, Kolten Harris, Kyler Harris, Rylee Shull, Alivia Shull, Jayden Shull, Preston Shull, Tanner Shull; step-grandchildren, Randy McKee and Sarah Molloy; great grandchildren, Jace Dain and Natalie Harris; siblings, Eva Martin of Stanford, KY, Etta (Paul) Cochran of Stanford, KY, John Harris of Taylorville, Julie Lowis of Taylorville, Alvin “Chip” (Denise) Harris of Taylorville, and Jimmy (Chris) Harris of Assumption; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

 

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 10:00-1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville.  In keeping with CDC guidelines, only ten guests at a time will be allowed to visit with the family.

 

Private family ceremonies will be held, followed by interment at Pleasant View Cemetery in Assumption.
