Carolyn A. Otey, 67, of Taylorville, passed away at 7:58 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at her residence.

Carolyn was born August 4, 1952 in Robinson, the daughter of Albert Gene and Betty Jean (Watts) Miller.  She married William Henry Otey, Jr. on April 6, 1974 in Hardinville.  Carolyn was a homemaker, but worked as a seamstress and babysitter out of her home for many years.  She loved camping, fishing, and hunting with her family.  Carolyn was also a fantastic cook, making most everything from scratch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Albert and Ronnie Miller.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, William H. Otey, Jr. of Taylorville; children, Peggy (Allen) Garcia of Coal Valley, Twilla (Russell) Stockon of Taylorville, and Joshua Otey of Taylorville; grandchildren, Brian and Cara Otey, Silas, Lance, and Shelby Stockon, and Sage and James Garcia; siblings, Mary (Rick) Williamson of Robinson, Vicky (Harold) Culberson of Oblong, Bernice (John) Malone of Robinson, Bill (Dixie) Miller of Lawrenceville, Carl Miller of Robinson, David Miller of Hardinville, and Roger Miller of Duncanville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private family memorial ceremonies will be held at a later date.

The family has entrusted Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville with arrangements.
